Electronic Sarcoma Update Newsletter
(ESUN)
ESUN
is an online, peer-reviewed, bi-monthly newsletter which contains articles of interest
to patients, caregivers, physicians, and nurses. In addition to feature articles
that focus on specific sarcomas and current issues in dealing with these cancers,
it has regular columns discussing clinical trials (Clinical Trial News),
recent research findings (Research Corner), a column that deals with a general
potpourri of topics of general interest (Odds & Ends Column) and a
column telling Stories of Courage and Hope.
Click on one of the
buttons on the left under "Available Issues" to view a specific issue of ESUN.
A partial index of all the feature articles appearing in
ESUN is also available by
clicking here.
ESUN
has an outstanding
Medical
Editorial Advisory Board. Each issue is
accessed by thousands of readers worldwide. If you
would like to receive a copy of the Guidelines for Authors or the Notes
for Reviewers, please
send us a note.
If you are new to reading
ESUN,
it is worth mentioning that each of the words or phrases that are underlined and
in a bold blue type are hyperlinks
to websites, documents or other online material. Also, many of the articles contain
sidebars with two differently colored borders, one in red and one in
blue.
Sidebars that
appear in boxes with red borders
are directed towards doctors and other
members of the medical team. However, patients and caregivers may find some of them informative.

ESUN
was launched in February
2004 to help achieve some of the goals of
the
Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. It is published in
the spirit of the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative
logo which represents patients, their
caregivers and loved ones, and the medical team working
together to improve the quality of life for those who have
sarcoma. The breaks in the links and in-between them are
meant to remind us of the difficulties that often occur in
communicating with each other. The Forget-Me-Not touches
each link and represents the many people who have touched
the lives of the patients, the caregivers, and the
physicians in their journeys with sarcoma. The background
consists of the small round blue cells that identify Ewing’s
sarcoma, which is the sarcoma Liddy had.
We encourage you to read about her story of courage and hope
by clicking on the
Liddy’s Story button above. We hope that the articles and the other information and data that appear in ESUN will empower
cancer patients, their caregivers and their loved ones by helping them
understand and discuss treatment options with their medical team and to aid
them in dealing with this disease.
