Dr. Ole Steen Nielsen Joins Our Board

We are please to
announce that Dr. Ole Steen Nielsen has joined our Medical Editorial Board.
Dr. Nielsen is head of the Department of Oncology at Aarhus
University Hospital in Denmark. This department is one of the largest
oncology centers in Denmark and includes medical oncology,
radiotherapy, palliative oncology, medical physics, psykooncology,
experimental clinical oncology as well as a subdivision of the pharmacy. In
addition to heading the Department of Oncology, Dr. Nielsen has the major
responsibility for the treatment of sarcoma patients at Aarhus University Hospital. The
Sarcoma Center at Aarhus University Hospital is one of the leading centers
in sarcoma treatment in Denmark. The center incorporates oncology, surgery,
pathology and radiology. Sarcoma patients from the age of 15 and above are
admitted to this centre. There is a special section for adolescent sarcoma
patients (age 15-20) in the Department of Oncology in which all young
patients with sarcomas are treated. Dr. Nielsen is trained in both
radiotherapy and medical oncology. He has had his basic training in Denmark.
In addition he has been working at Princes Margaret Hospital in Toronto. He
is author on more than 150 international publications as well as more than
300 presentations at international meetings. He is associate
professor at Aarhus University Hospital. Dr. Nielsen has been chairman of
the European Sarcoma Group of the European Organization for Research and
Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). He was president of the Connective
Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS) in 2005. He is also chairman of the Scientific
Committee of the Danish Cancer Society. He is presently a member of 15
scientific/patient grant boards (chairman of 10). We look forward to his
contributions to ESUN.
